Biosemiotics and signals
The nature of signals entails a most a paradoxical loop of semiotics. In their basic state, signals are that which give signs to a given Thing. The informational quality of signs, taken as the resonance of significance inside systems can lead to the Notion of Signs-as-Language. Signs-as-Language signify the web of meaning in itself; of qualities and their associations with given Objects and Subjects. Signs in the linguistic system can ever really touch any Thing. Since the signaling of the Linguistic Sign involves the extension and stretching of the sign itself, the that-which-is-asked is never really touched by the sign. The sign-in-the-radio-signal-as-language, or the spoken word over the radio is emptied in its projection into spatiality-the Thing which is the topic of discourse is made the secondary topic of discussion, for the true topic is in actuality, the sign within the contextual web. The topic of discussion can only be with regards to that which is ready-to-hand in its spatial and temporal realm. For instance, in our case of the spoken word over the radio, the topic of maybe say, the War is not actually about the War, but rather that which is touched by the War; of the civilian population. This is first and foremost because of the placing of the War as an innate ready-to-hand. It must be critically, sent over the radio waves, from A to B at a given frequency. This is the first ontological war waged on the actual War. This we can maybe see as a guerilla-style ambush on the broadcast where the signal is attacked laterally from two sides. The ontological partisans wage war on the War. Second, the War is made enslaved to the semiotic web of a given linguistic system. As a colonial effort, it may be indeed that the War is purposefully Anglicized if the radio broadcast is made at a given Time. Finally, the Time component makes the ready-to-hand all too painful since, by even the quickest transmission in the right window of Time, is made obsolete via the War running away with its qualities. The War might be won when it is actually lost.
The semiotic ready-to-hand has interesting implications on the study of Biosemiotics since first and foremost, Biosemiotics is not limited to language itself, allowing for ontologically weird structures that are positioned as already There, to come into contact with the interactions of the ready-to-hand projected spatially. This can be colloquially said to be even weirder, since the invitation of the guerilla attack can be interpreted as a an act of conscious intentionality-the testosterones might tell the partisans to attack you. Second, the biological component predates the signal itself, as the Meat of the Body, taken as sum of all biology in the Self can be that which sets up the scenario. It can maybe through evolutionary Time, signify that the ambush is actually something intentionally beneficial. Third, through combination of the previous two factors, the linguistic structure may not be a biological invention, rather an imposition by something else. The breakdown of linguistics into chemical signals, hormonal flux and simple vocalization is the act of intentionality by the biological. The biological can take revenge via a unique maneuver of retro-semiotics appearing as the reversal of evolutionary process. Retro-semiotics go hand-in-hand with retro-evolutionary contractions.
The Meat World
Here we enter the Meat World, or precisely the product of retro-evolutionary Biosemiotics, in reaction to linguistic imposition. We find, that it is composed entirely of Meat. The Meat is of our more ontological kind, coming in as the Meat of The Body or the sum of the biological itself, of a individuated system of signalization dwelling in a given space. This is importantly, our Meat World, and that it is for us. It is observed, in a bizarre moment of gruesome goriness, that indeed the Meat is human.
The Meat allows for the most efficient synchronizing of the present-at-hand and the ready-to-hand. It achieves efficient Biosemiotics with us with its signaling of structure as arising as delayed kind of excess, mistake, consequence or simply that the structure of the Objects and Subjects in the Meat World are simply made of Meat. Within its somewhat inconclusive ending that indeed Meat is Meat in the Meat World, there is a surprising paradox; the Meat as itself is not fully itself via a specialization or a profession. The Meat here is simultaneously the environment with its physical Earthiness and the lofty thoughts. This division is of specialization, akin to training for a job and this specialization is by itself A Sign. If we go back to our signs and signals, we can see that they are here once again in The Meat World; the inhabitants are signs which can be grouped according to smooth, cardiac and skeletal muscle. The inanimate, stationary elements akin to the rocks or the soil are made of smooth muscle, containing little ATPase and are generally unreactive. They are referred here as the the quality of rockiness, despite their smoothness and comparative “softness”. Here we clarify that in The Meat World, referral is an act of a sign being signaled and received fully via mechanism of; Rockiness is Smooth Muscle-Smooth Muscle is inside you-Rockiness is Rockiness, as given to you by your Body. This mechanism bypasses the spatiality and temporality of signaling and most importantly prevents even the emergence of a linguistic structure, thereby fulfilling the revenge of the Biological-a counter to the evolutionary semiotic mechanism with efficient, retro-evolutionary Biosemiotics.
To fulfil the landscape of the Meat World, the rivers and the winds and fluids are made of Cardiac Muscle, beating with no time-reference at all, animating the entire world. They signal efficiently the quality of permanence in regard to motion, to any human who wanders in via a Biosemiotics penetration. The subjectified forms are made of Skeletal Muscle, moving in response to the stimulus of the other two Meats and they may signal that which formed as a tertiary managerial, maneuver to the animations of the Other Meat.
Consuming the Meat
At last, we arrive to the final paradox of semiotics and the biological. To live in the Meat World, we get hungry and we develop a desire to consume. However, consuming the meat would signal a very termination of the biological and Life itself. This is a unique ontological final layer in which there is no escaping, with no ethical reference to avoid the problem. To remain sustained and nourished, we need to eat the Environment of the Meat World. We need to eat the Meat and eat the sign itself. It becomes a necessity to consume semiotics itself. Therefore, veganism in the Meat World is ontologically impossible.
